We are NAMA

We are NAMA, Natasha and Mathy. 
A mother and daughter with a shared love of travel, design, diverse cultures and beautiful things.

On a trip we took together to India in 2018, the dream of NAMA was born. India, the country of endless possibilities, colour, culture and craftsmanship created the perfect backdrop that inspired us to fulfill a lifelong dream of sharing the special things we love and that bring us joy with a wider community. 

Our NAMA journey has now taken us back to Africa, the continent where we were both born (Mathy in the Congo and Natasha in South Africa) and whose artisanal heritage is equally majestic and extraordinary.

As we embarked on this journey, it quickly became clear that it was important to us that each of the pieces in our collection were made in collaboration with local businesses and talented craftspeople, who draw on centuries-old traditions and use region-specific techniques to produce their elegant wares. In many cases, pieces are constructed by hand, with great care, making them unique in the truest sense. 

Equally important to us is the tapestry of stories that are woven into each piece. There is the story of the piece’s production, the story of the people who helped create it, the story of the place it comes from. Finally, though, there is the story of what your NAMA piece will mean to you, its newfound owner. This last story is yours to write.

NAMA is a story of love. It began with our love for each other and we have infused this love into the unique pieces that make up our collection. Our dream has always been to share with you the special things that bring us joy in the hope that they will make you smile too.
