This African zipper pouch was designed and made by skilled and talented women living in the Cape Flats area of Cape Town, South Africa. Through the production of this collection of pouches, we provide support and income for the women and their families, and hope to raise awareness about the challenging circumstances under which they live.
The pouch is made from bright and colourful West African wax print fabric with a water-resistant lining. These 100% cotton African wax print fabrics are a defining symbol of West African design and are immediately recognisable throughout the world. The fabric designs range from distinctively African motifs rooted in history to fun, modern designs. The unique fabric prints we use are only available in limited quantities, making all of our pouches limited editions.
All of the pouches in this collection were manufactured as part of a sustainable project using zero waste processes. In this project, each item forms part of an up-cycle chain and is constructed from the excesses of another item.
The uses for this multi-purpose pouch are endless. It is perfect for travel; for use as a clutch bag; a toiletry bag; make-up bag; or as a stylish bag for taking to the beach. There are no rules, so don’t let anyone tell you how to use yours!
